What to expect from your MSK Initial Consultation

Our physiotherapists will undertake a detailed history to establish how the symptoms behave and to fully screen for any adverse medical conditions, followed by a full examination to assess and diagnose the cause of the symptoms.

Treatment may then include:

  • manual therapy techniques (hands-on treatment) to relieve pain and stiffness.
  • soft tissue, myofascial release treatment/massage
  • specific exercises to help with strengthening and recovery
  • Postural re-education to relieve symptoms and correct muscle imbalances
  • Ergonomic assessment and advice

No. You do not need a referral from your GP to book a physiotherapy appointment at MEPS. You can book directly through the website or by contacting the clinic. If you have private health insurance, you may want to check whether your insurer requires a referral for reimbursement.

Yes. Pre-surgical physiotherapy (‘prehab’) can help strengthen the body and prepare you for a quicker recovery, while post-surgical rehabilitation helps you regain strength, mobility and function safely. Our team works with patients before and after a wide range of surgeries.
