MCSP POGP HCPC BMAS
Physiotherapist and Pelvic Health Specialist
Retha qualified with a BSc (Hons) in Physiotherapy at the University of the Free State in South Africa in 1999. After relocating to the UK in 2004 she worked mainly in private practice as part of a multidisciplinary team, contributing her musculoskeletal expertise.
In her work with semi-professional long-distance athletes and triathletes and many sportsmen and women, she developed a keen interest in the lumbopelvic hip complex and lower limb biomechanics. Her further training in the Integrated System Model with Lee and Lee gave her a great addition to her skill set. Retha is also a qualified yoga and clinical Pilates instructor.
Retha loves to exercise and adventure sports. Her passion is getting people back to doing the things they love doing. As a mother, she knows all too well the challenges women, in particular, faces with childbearing.
This brought her to become a Mummy MOT practitioner with Maria Elliott in 2016. Since then her interest in all things pelvic health-related has skyrocketed. She now treats men and women experiencing pelvic issues ranging from pain, prolapse, sexual dysfunction and preparation for pregnancy and childbirth.
She discovered Mummy MOT® as a patient herself, wanting to return to competitive running after having her 2 boys. She is now passionate about guiding women from childbirth all the way through to a full active life, whether that is playing on the trampoline with the children or elite-level sport. By combining her skill set in sport with pelvic health she hopes she can give women the confidence that anything is possible in their post-baby bodies.
